Don treats First Tee Attendees to many of his hit songs

The First Tee Invitational is one of The Greater Sacramento Area’s most prestigious golf events of the season and is historically filled long before the event. The First Tee of Greater Sacramento improves the lives of young people by strengthening character and teaching life enhancing values through the game of golf.

Additionally, the 2010 First Tee Invitational was proud to have Don Cherry as it’s Honorary Chairman. Don can best be described in his autobiography, “Cherries jubilee: Singin’ and Swingin’ through Life with Dino, Frank, Arnie and Jack.” Don’s unbelievable dual
career as the American pop singer with a velvety smooth baritone voice was accented by his illustrious record in both amateur and professional golf.

Don Cherry, along with renowned golf artist, Jim Fitzpatrick, shared many colorful stories from his life in golf and the celebrity spotlight, in the intimacy of the Fitzpatrick Gallery in Granite Bay.

After the tournament Don performed many of his hits for a greatful crowd.

Don,

I was at your concert in New Port Richey, Fl on March 26, 2010 and
wanted to comment on how fabulous it was. If I were blind, I could not have known an 87 year old man was singing. It sounded better then some of your recordings from the 50’s and 60’s. (Not that they weren’t good.)

I was very happy that you included “Till and Because” in your show. Two beautiful songs sung by the best voice I’ve ever heard.

The highlight for me was sneaking into your rehearsal before the show. (Did I just say that?)With only a handful of people there, I could hear every note that came out of your mouth. (Perfect)

After the show I bought your book. (I read it in two days.) Your Tribute to Perry Como CD I had already bought through your web site. This is one of the few CD’s that I own, that when it ends, you wish it was longer.

Before your show I was talking to an older gentleman that asked what I was doing there. (Me only being 48 years old.) You’re not old enough to know his music he said. I replied, no but when I was old enough to appreciate great music, I bought all of his CD’s.

Also, when I think of great golfers, I think of Jack, Arnie, Ben, Tiger
and Don Cherry. Never to lose a Walker Cup match? (Unbelievable) 30 hole in one’s? (I’m still waiting for my first.) We need to golf together someday.

Can’t wait to hear you again in concert

Best of heath to you,

John Kalinsky

These are just a few notes after some shows

Hi Don and Francine,

Just a note to tell you what a great time we had at Vincenzo's last Thursday night. Don, your voice, in my estimation, is richer now than ever. It was really a pleasure to listen to you. I had never heard Augusta before and it was mesmerizing! Thank you for an enchanting evening.

Much love and health

Hal and Mary Ann Underwood

Don,
Harry & I just wanted to say that we thoroughly enjoyed your performance here in Houston on December 16 at Vincenzo's Italian Grill. It is hard to believe that we have been fortunate to hear you several times. We were at your 80th Birthday Performance...seven years ago. Each time has been great but 2010 will be memorable for us. Francine, I cherish your friendship and hope to keep in contact with you and Don.

In friendship.
Sherry Dunlap
