Dear Don and Francine:

You two are so timely! I leave tomorrow around noontime to travel to Biloxi to Beau Rivage to help nine other women, two of which are my sisters, celebrate my mother's 88th birthday. I received your autographed Cherry Jubilee book today and now I will have it to present to my mom as one of her gifts. I did see my cousins' Jay and Lionel's names in the index and with your autograph and sweet note inscribed this will be her best gift ever. I didn't think anything by the post office arrived that quickly from Las Vegas. Much thanks for not allowing me to go empty handed. Now I await your CD, "A Tribute to Perry Como which I am sure will arrive under separate cover. Merci Beaucoup!

Hi Francine & Don,
I have received today the CD, and I have already played it. It is Fantastic. My mother who is 88years young is one of your greatest fans. She remembers Don when he was topping the tops and that is how I got started on Don Cherry. I have 5 great singers and now Don has become one of them.
Once again thank you for the CD and keep digging out the songs.
Best Wishes to you both,
Nick

Dear Don:

I guess I will begin by telling you that my cousins were Jay and Lionel Hebert from Lafayette. My mother who will be 88 yrs. old on September 26 spoke to us often of Jay and Lionel's A-list friends. Her father Euclide, and Aunt 'tonia, Jay and Lionel's mother were brother and sister. I was looking for something to give my mother in relation to her family and I have decided to purchase your book which I want to read myself and your CD so she and I can enjoy your music together. I grew up listening to Perry Como, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra so I too have an appreciation for that era. As a matter of fact, we will be travelling to Beau Rivage in Biloxi to hear Toni Bennett as her birthday celebration. It is great that you are going strong and I look forward to reading your book, "Cherries Jubilee", and listening to your CD. Much health and happiness to you and your wife.

Susan, I attended golf schools held by your cousins on several occassions. What great gentlemen they were. Obviously from the tone they must have passed, could you provide me details as to when?

Hi Don

I have admired your singing from the first time I saw and heard you sing in a nightclub in Dayton, OH. I have many of your Cd's and now looks like you have more interesting CD's to purchase.
Also, interesting to read about your days of singing and still playing golf. I am an avid golfer, and by reading your biography I see I am three years older than you. Really thought you were a lot younger. Enjoyed your web site and will view it many more times. Best to you and your family. You are number one in my book as a singer and golfer. Betty Rike

I just received a CD I ordered from your website. It was for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. In the comment box on the order form I had asked if Don could send a little note along with tht CD wishing a happy anniversary to my parents. I was so shocked to find that Don had written a note and put it inside a card with a very nice and personal message to my parents. I never expected such a response-- I could not believe Don took the time to do this. Also in the package was a little note from Francine asking if this is what I requested. Well, Francine, it's actually MORE than I expected. The world needs more kind and polite people like you and Don. I thank you both. The CD and personal note will be great, and cherished gift.

Hi Don, Hi Francine,

Enjoying everything!

The CD's: Don's voice is simply incredible. It has a special character to it that is indescribable. A richness in the lows. A purity in the highs. A distinctive timbre that makes you want to hear more. If you wanted to invent the way a singing voice should sound, you would invent Don Cherry.

The DVD: great fun. You can watch it again and again. Especially Don's live rendition of My Way. I've heard everyone from Paul Anka, who wrote the song, to Sinatra, but Don's version tops them all. I especially like his power and feeling on the phrase "and not the words of one who kneels".

The Book: Speaking of words - these are fascinating. I've just completed the 18th Hole and am truly enjoying the book.

All the best,

Paul

There are interesting books, there are informative books, and conversely, there are boring and completely uninteresting books. The latter is certainly NOT the case with Don Cherry's autobiography, so appropriately titled "Cherry's Jubilee", which is a definite a MUST READ.

This incredibly fascinating story of Cherry's life -- including trials and tribulations, along with many highs and lows, plus of course his disappointments and triumphs -- makes for reading that is indeed difficult, if not outright impossible, to put down.

We are all dealt a life, and obviosly have to make the best of what is offered us. However, all who read this biography will be positively amazed, and at the same time thoroughly entertained, by the wonderful life the chipmunk-cheeked Cherry has been blessed to lead.

Hi Don and Francine,
What a delightful book ! It brought back so many memories of those who have passed on. I sure do miss them. As I read, I could visualize so much, especially Forrest Tucker in the pup tent. The book kept me in stitches. Now you can add " author " as another thing you've done so well. Your just talented
all the way around. You've had a very exciting life indeed. One, to be envied by all. Bob and I both love all of our cd's by you. WE pull out the DVD and watch it over and over. We're so hungry for entertainment like it once was. Thank you so much for the pleasures that you have given us.
You do know that you have a little gem for a wife, don't you? She is a little doll, and so very sweet. I love her to death.

Don, your stories are such a delight to read bringing so much enjoyment. The book is first class and gives one a wonderful insight into a most talented career. I finished your book and thought I’d comment. Well, I’ll have to give you a B-. Unless you come sing to me, then, I’ll make it a B+. (You have to read the book people. It’s a joke.)
Over all, very nice. I did almost choke to death on a piece of hard candy reading the 11th hole chapter. (Eating not advised while reading the book.)
Funny stories. Interesting life. You’re a lucky man. Thanks for sharing the memories.

Can’t wait for your next book. Haha?
