Detroit, Aug. 26 - TIME OFF FOR A LADY - Don Cherry, the golfing crooner from Wichita Falls, TX, had plenty of time to relax after he got a free ride into the quarter-finals of the National Amateur Golf Championship through the default of his opponent, Jimmy McGonagill. So he spent part of the morning playing with a friend, Linda Krammer, 15 months old, on the edge of a putting green. He faced a tougher match in the afternoon play, facing Arnold Palmer of Cleveland who upset international champ Frank Stranahan in the morning round. (1954)
